New eruptions began at Garbuna volcano in Papua New Guinea on 11th March 2008. Grey ash was emitted to an elevation of 1 km above the summit and ash fell SW of the volcano. Booming noises were occasionally heard at the volcano. This is the first activity at the volcano since 2005. Low levels of activity were recorded yesterday with white emissions from multiple locations on the summit.
