Lava flows from Kilauea volcano in Hawaii are threatening houses near the Royal Gardens subdivision in Lower Puna. Lava is now 1.3 km from the top of the subdivision, at 1600 ft elevation. A fast moving `a`a lava flow 3 m wide has moved towards about 10 structures which remain in the area. Lava destroyed 190 structures in the Kalapana and surrounding area since 1983.
