Kliuchevskoi Volcano, Russia - John Seach

Explosive eruptions are occurring at Kliuchevskoi volcano in Kamchatka, Russia. Ash plumes have been observed rising to an altitude of 9 km (29,500 ft). Ash emissions more than 10 km (32,000 ft.) ASL may occur at any time and could affect international and low-flying aircraft according to the Kamchatkan Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT).

Taal Volcano, Philippines - John Seach

Taal volcano in the Philippines showed signs of unrest today when two volcanic earthquakes measuring 2 and 3 were felt at Pira-piraso village. The seismic unrest was accompanied by rumbling around 2:30 am this morning. A total of eight volcanic earthquakes were measured by PHIVOLCS seismographs. There has been no change to the alert status at the volcano. The last eruption of Taal volcano was in 1977.

Kilauea Volcano, Hawaii - John Seach

A new lava emission has occurred in the upper east rift zone at Kilauea volcano. The earthquake swarm over the past few days at the volcano resulted in a 250 m long fissure opening in the forest northeast of Kane Nui o Hamo, 6 km west of Pu`u `O`o vent, and close to Makaopuhi crater. Profuse lava was emitting from the north flank of Kane Nui o Hamo. Extension across the rift zone near Makaopuhi crater has reached 95 cm. The eruption event has been named Episode 56 by the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.

Kilauea Volcano, Hawaii - John Seach

The earthquake swarm which began at Kilauea volcano on Sunday continues at a smaller rate. Today there was a swarm focus between Makaopuhi and Napau craters, further down rift than yesterday. Inflation of 70 cm has been measured across the east rift zone near Makaopuhi crater, and cracks have been observed between Mauna Ulu and Makaopuhi crater. The crater floor at Pu`u `O`o vent has dropped by about 20 m and no flowing lava was seen in skylights in the Petunia tube. Activity at Pu`u `O`o crater has decreased in response to the intrusion of magma into the east rift zone on 17th June. A similar intrusion of magma at Kilauea volcano in 1997 and 1999 resulted in cessation of Pu`u `O`o activity for several days to weeks.

Kilauea Volcano, Hawaii - John Seach

An earthquake swarm has been recorded in the upper east rift zone at Kilauea volcano in Hawaii. Most earthquakes were located between Pauahi and Makaopuhi craters. The National Park was closed to tourists along the Chain of Craters Road and parts of Crater Rim Drive as a precaution. Two centimeter cracks appeared the Chain of Craters road near the Mauna Ulu turnoff. Seismicity in the summit area consists of strong tremor. The Kilauea Visitor Center, Jaggar Museum, Volcano House Hotel, Kilauea Military Camp, and Volcano Art Center Gallery remained open. According to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory there was an intrusion of magma at the Mauna Ulu area early Sunday morning and moved slowly 5 km (3 miles) east along the rift zone during the day. Lava from Pu`u `O`o vent feed two flows along the east rift zone. The Petunia lava flow has started to descend the pali. The Campout lava tube is feeding the Poupou ocean entry. The lava level in East Pond vent of Pu`u `O`o dropped several meters on late Sunday morning. On Sunday afternoon there were rockfalls from the south wall of Pu`u `O`o cone and collapse of the crater floor around the vents.

Soufriere Hills Volcano, Montserrat - John Seach

Lava dome growth has ceased at Soufriere Hills volcano on Montserrat. During the week of 8-15 June there was no lava extrusion. While the dome is not growing in size, it still presents a hazard due to collapse, creating pyroclastic flows and surges capable of impacting on the lower Belham Valley and lower lying areas up to lower Happy Hill and the Old Towne ridge. On 11th June heavy rainfall caused a lahar and two pyroclastic flows.
