A great earthquake (Mag 8.1) hit Kurile Islands in Russia today, Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at 10:14 pm local time at epicentre.
A tsunami warning is in effect for Russia, Japan, Marcus Is, Midway Is.
A tsunami watch is in effect for Northern Marianas, Guam, Marshall is, Taiwan, Chuuk, Pohnpei, Yap, Philippines, Kosrae, Belau, Johnston Is, Hawaii, Indonesia, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea. Solomon Islands has not been mentioned, but is in the same area.
