Rabaul Volcano (Papua New Guinea)

Two mild vulcanian eruptions occurred at Rabaul volcano today at 1200 and 1320 hr, local time. The state of emergency has been lifted in east New Britain Province after a decrease in volcanic activity. Yesterday, a tectonic earthquake, magnitude 6.8, hit New Britain Island. The earthquake was not related to eruptions at Rabaul.
