A major earthquake (magnitude 7.5) hit Indonesia today at 3:08 pm, local time. The epicentre was located on the island of Pulau Simeulue, 133 km off the west coast of Sumatra. Earthquakes of this size can sometimes disrupt nearby volcanoes. Kembar volcano is located 220 km NE of the earthquake epicentre.
