Volcanic haze from Anatahan volcano has drifted 150 km south to Saipan and Tinian, prompting the government to issue an alert. The Department of Public Health urged people with respiratory problems to remain indoors until the haze and odour are dispersed. Teachers and officials advised students to cover their mouths and noses when outside the classrooms. Boats are advised to avoid Anatahan Island. People were advised not to drink water that is contaminated with heavy ash fall.
