Rabaul Volcano, Papua New Guinea - John Seach

Rabaul volcano observatory reports an explosion occurred at Tavurvur crater, Rabaul volcano, Tuesday morning 17th July 2007. The eruption was accompanied by a loud booming noise, thick ash emission, and ejection of lava fragments onto the volcano flank. A roaring noise was heard and red glow was visible above the crater rim. Ash emissions reached 1500 m altitude and fine-to-moderate ash fall occurred at Rabaul and Malaguna.
