Kilauea Volcano, Hawaii - John Seach

Eruptions continue from two location at Kilauea volcano, Hawaii. On the east rift zone lava is visible in Pu`u `O`o crater, and also flowed from the TEB vent through tubes to one ocean entry at Puhi-o-Kalaikini delta. On Thursday there were no surface lava flows visible on the coastal plain. At the summit of Kilauea volcano, lava is visible in a pit at Halemaumau Crater. Lava has reached within 115 m of the surface, and a red glow is visible at night from Hawaii Volcano Observatory. During periods of high lava levels, the lava surface is visible with the naked eye.

Seulawah Agam Volcano, Indonesia - John Seach

Between January 2010 there was an increase in seismic activity at Seulawah Agam volcano. There were no changes observed visually at the volcano. On 1st September 2010 the alert level at the volcano was raised from Normal (Level I) to Alert (Level II).

Vanuatu Earthquake (Mag 7.5) - John Seach

A magnitude 7.5 earthquake hit Vanuatu today at 04:23 pm local time. The epicentre was located 40 km NW of the capital Port Vila. A small 0.23 m high tsunami was generated. The closest active volcano to the epicentre is Kuwae volcano 100 km NNE.

Pacaya Volcano, Guatemala - John Seach

Activity at the summit of Pacaya volcano has been increasing, after a month of quiet. Seismometers recorded 97 explosions in the 24 hours to 16th July. Most ejected material is falling inside the crater. There are some pyroclastic flows down the south flank of the volcano. There is a small amount of ash emission from the crater. Pacaya volcano had a large summit eruption, and flank lava flow in May and June 2010.

Krakatau volcano, Indonesia - John Seach

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred at Krakatau volcano in Indonesia on Friday 9th July 2010. The earthquake epicentre was located at a depth of 73 km, 7 km NE of Anak Krakatau.

Yasur volcano, Vanuatu - John Seach

High level activity continues at Yasur volcano, Vanuatu. Explosive eruption have sent lava bombs several hundred metres from the crater. Ashfall is affecting areas surrounding the volcano and trade winds are blowing ash northwest towards middle bush. The eruptions have not disrupted flights in Vanuatu, although some domestic flights in New Caledonia have been affected.

Eyjafjallajokull volcano, Iceland - John Seach

Eruptions have finished at Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland. There is only a small amount of steam emitting from the summit crater. A few small shallow earthquakes are being recorded under the ice cap. Volcanic tremor has almost reduced to pre eruption levels.
